President Trump’s Latest Election Moves Raise Fear of Voter Intimidation in Philadelphia
President Donald Trump has raised concerns that many have described as baseless about Philadelphia’s voting process. Prior to the casting of early votes on Wednesday, Trump made remarks about the city’s voting process, asking his supporters to observe proceedings carefully during the event. The comments made during the debate on Tuesday have been interpreted by some of the city leaders as baseless and bothersome.

“Trump told his supporters to be vigilant; he was not referring to poll watching, but he was implying that voters were being intimidated,” Aaron Ford, Nevada Attorney General. “This is illegal in Nevada.”

The president might have raised concerns about the November election as he urged his supporters to watch proceeding carefully. Democrats have interpreted this to mean that the incumbent president is calling on his supporters to intimidate other voters during the presidential elections in November. Some of his supporters who wanted to observe and capture the election proceedings were turned away from the city’s satellite election centers. City officials informed the group that the laws of the state do not give room for that.

The president has condemned the actions of the official on different platforms. He stated that “terrible things occur in Philadelphia” and urged supporters to be vigilant. This call for action has raised concerns amongst officials, especially after the president called on an extremist group known as the Proud Boys to stand by his comments.

Justin Clark and Thea McDonald who both works for the Trump campaign have told supporters that there would be different poll watchers for the Republican Party all through Philadelphia.  McDonald added that the poll watchers will be trained to ensure that all election regulations are strictly followed. She said that this will be done to combat the deceptive nature of Democrats who have shown how sly they can be during elections.

The campaign agency of the president has given training videos to their poll watchers in all states. The duty of the poll watchers is to address issues concerning the eligibility of voters, foul play from Democrats and conducts that go against the laws of the election. They are, however, to remain courteous to everyone and avoid mingling with voters.

Some voting rights groups have shared their beliefs that the poll watchers might go overboard with their duties especially after listening to Trump talk unceasingly about voter intimidation and possible fraudulent activities during the election. The Republican National Committee was banned from poll watching after reports of voter intimidation in New Jersey in 1981. The ban was lifted in 2018.

Roger Stone Jr., a close friend of the president stated on “The Alex Jones Show” that Nevada ballots should be seized as a result of corruption and electoral malpractice. He also advised the president to cancel state police departments and have them nationalized instead. Donald Trump Jr. has also reportedly announced that the election will be fraught with fraud but he has not given any evidence to justify the statement.

“The opponents are putting in place the groundwork to snatch this election from my father, President Donald Trump,” the president’s son stated in a video posted on Twitter.

Many people are concerned with the strategy being employed by the president. Lauren Groh-Wargo of Fair Fight Action said that the Republican Party and the president are taking different measures to suppress the efforts of voters because they know they can not win if the election is free and fair.
